Join us with special guests Dylan John Callahan and Casey Pemberton as we explore the ancient Greek tale of Pythagorean mystics Damon and Pythias. The important lessons from that tale have been the central aim of the Knights of Pythias since its formal creation during the American Civil War. Bro. Powers considers becoming a Knight, Bro. Marshall recites some poetry, and even Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin garner mention as we discover a film originally created to be a celebration of their famous bond.
This week the hosts of Historical Light have the pleasure to sit down with Brothers Geeg Wiles and Captain Ahab; and yes, we said Brothers. There is one amazing story behind this WWII era wooden Captain that you need to know.
Remember to give a thumbs up and Subscribe!

As we all know and can deeply appreciate, this is no small task, yet is highly important. We are excited to share the progress he has made. We commend him for all his efforts in his many endeavors that have impacted the Craft as a whole. Make sure to check out the links below to find out more about Bro. Stanley!

We highlighted a past Brother from my lodge a few episodes ago, William McClintock, well today we are going to talk about another, LeRoy Hill. This Brother was actually the first of the area to die in WWI and passed away in action on a battlefield in France. We recently got the opportunity to do a joint event with the local Legion Post in honor of Brother Hill. Check out this episode to find out more.

Historical Light has not been keeping our intended schedule lately. Some of you know the reasons behind that but never the less we are getting back on track!
Tonight we are doing a recap on my recent trip to Masonic Con 2018 in Attleboro Mass. where I presented this year on the importance of preserving our Masonic History.
We are stoked to have friend and Brother W:. Rob Jackson on the show to help us with the recap. He was also in attendance this year helps provide another view of the event.
Sorry yall, we are not spotlighting Masonrytoday.com today but still be sure to go check them out.
Recording the intro of today's show while in the hospital waiting room. You may have heard by now that Brother Angelo Mino who you will see featured in the into of Historical Light was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer and is currently in that fight. Additional to that my younger brother passed away just over a week ago so things have been crazy. I do apologize that we have not been keeping our regular schedule but I hope you can understand why.
Tonight we are featuring an interview with Brother and Masonic Author Julian Rees. He is bringing us not only some history behind his publications but a look into the start of the Co- Masonic orders with Le Droit Humain. This is a very tabu subject for a lot of people but we are not going at this in a debate format instead we are merely taking a look at the history behind it.

Taking a break from the interviews for today to allow time to shwo respect to an important name in my lodges history, William J. McClintock. He started out as a mysterious frame portrait on the wall in the lodge room. After some time of digging I was finally able to match the face in that frame to the name of a past master of Gardner who served a collective twelve years in the East of the ldoge that we had been missing a photo for. Join us today as we take a deeper look into Brother McClintock and pay our respect.

Today we chat with Bro. James Morgan III. Bro Morgan is a respected Masonic Historian, Co Host on The Prince Hall Think Tank, as well as the Assoc. W:. Grand Historian and Archivist for the Prince Hall jurisdiction in Washington DC. Today's topic originated from some research for a family reunion that aided him in stumbling upon some compelling history of Prince Hall Masonry here in Kansas. He went on to write a very well researched paper on the topic titled “A Worthy Adversary”. We are pleased to have him on the show today to cover this great topic.

Bro. James Morgan III
Please forgive the audio quality this week. As we recorded on location at the lodge we had to use a cell phone.
It is Labor Day weekend and we are all busy with family and friends so we are keeping it short today and will not be featuring an interview. Not to worry though we have several great interviews recorded and ready to go for the episodes to come. Today the family and I spent some time up at the lodge while I was doing some awesome research of our history. My daughter jumps in to present today's article from Masonry Today.com which I was really excited about. We want to make sure and recognize those in Texas enduring the struggle of the hurricane right now. The MSA is accepting donations to support their needs. Please see below for the link to MSA where you can offer your support. Now off to light the grill and spend some time relaxing with the family. See you next time!

Due to such an engaging interview the time ran a bit lengthy this week so decided to cut the MasonryToday article. They will be back next time but until then pay them a visit at www.MasonryToday.com
In this episode, we chat this time with Dylan Kuhlman, the Archivist for the Grand Lodge of Kansas who gives an inside perspective of the progress in archives. The interesting thing about Dylan’s position with the Grand Lodge is that he is actually a Profane! However, however he is bringing some very impressive experience, dedication, and overall passion to the table and to the mission of saving and sharing the Masonic history within the state of Kansas. He came in to a mountainous job at hand but has taken it head on. You will defiantly want to be in on this week’s conversation.

As you may have heard I was featured as a special lunchtime presenter for the Midwest Conference on Masonic Education this past weekend in Topeka, Ks. This even was a HUGE sucess and happy to report the presentation went over extremly well. I want to give a big shoutout to a couple die hard Historical Light fans, Mark and Bill, that jumped in the car for a roadtrip from Nebraska to come down and see me speak. That meant the world. Several others tried to make the trip down but dates didnt allign which I more than understand. You all are amazing and I appreciate the support from each of you more than you know.
Bro. Patrick Craddock had an EPIC presentation at the conferecne that I can not go without highlighting. He spoke on the history of the Masonic apron. As a history nerd this one had my FULL attention and I never want to wear a "community apron" ever again. If you have not gotten to hear him speak you need to make it a point!
